About Oakland County Probate Court
The Probate Court is broken down into two divisions that handle separate matters.
Estates Division: decedent estates, Will safekeeping, minor guardianships/conservatorships, and adult guardianships/conservatorships for legally incapacitate individuals.
Mental Health Division: adult guardianships for individuals with developmental disabilities, transport order for individuals with mental illness, and mental health commitment hearings.

Security Requirements at Oakland County Probate Court
When entering the Oakland County Courthouse make sure you plan ahead for security. The court doesn’t allow cameras, camera phones, recording devices, weapons or cutting instruments to enter the courthouse. Make sure you get to the court at least a half hour before your hearing is scheduled because it can take a lot of time to pass through security, especially on busy hearing days.
